The Roller Coaster Physics Set is designed to help students as they learn how to design and conduct scientific investigations, identify variables of the problem and select appropriate independent and dependent variables for investigations.

The Teacher's Guide offers ideas, in the form of nine lab exercises, that outline ways in which students may use the set to study concepts in physics, and in particular mechanics, associated with roller coaster rides. The studies adopt a hands-on, student-inquiry based approach in which the teacher is encouraged to develop each lab investigation using the 5E model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate) of inquiry.

Set includes 2039 K'NEX® parts – enough to build 11 models, including two roller coaster designs, half pipes, and ramp/loop systems. Supports 6 to 8 students working in teams (for Secondary 4 to 6). Building instructions and comprehensive teacher's guide aligned to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Standards are included.
